The project aims at evaluating and improving the Gaussian noise estimation algorithm for 3D spatio-temporal noise reduction in a television. The existing algorithm is evaluated using seven different video motion sequences. A new block based approach for estimating the variance of the Gaussian noise present in the motion sequences is proposed.
