Project Title: Algorithms to Enhance Image Quality of Digital Video [Dec '03].

ABSTRACT

The Project discusses, Various Algorithms to enhance the image quality are developed and compared with the conventional ones. In the color management unit, algorithms to control parameters like brightness, contrast, hue and saturation are developed. These algorithms are converted from one color space to other color space as per the requirements. Finally, these algorithms are converted to bit-precision form. At every phase, all the algorithms are tested with 400 images to check the correctness of the implementation.

Edge detection and edge enhancement algorithms are also developed. A deinterlacing algorithm to solve vertical pan problem is developed. Noise removal algorithms from inter-field are implemented and results are visually studied. Thus, most advanced technique for noise removal, which is a spatiotemporal technique. is finally implemented. For removal of ghosting various techniques are implemented. All the algorithms, which are developed, are tested rigorously. The results are better than most of the conventional Techniques.



Tools Used:C and Matlab on Solaris 5.8 platform.
